Coronation Power’s plans to build a 12-turbine wind farm on the land close to Rooley Moor Road were rejected by town hall chiefs in Rochdale recently.
Good news for the green belt land in Rossendale, the application was refused on grounds including harm to the green belt, designated and non-designated heritage assets, landscape, residential amenity, public rights of way and the peatlands.
Coronation Power will appeal the decision.
Project manager Edward Romaine said: “The reasons given for refusal are very similar to those given against the developments at Scout Moor and Crook Hill. It’s mud thrown against the wall to see what will stick.”
